The rescued victims
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued 27 kidnap victims, including a six-month-old baby, in Katsina State and neutralised terrorists in separate operations in Sokoto State.
The Nigerian Army announced this in a post via its social media page on Friday.
It said: “In Katsina, troops of the 17 Brigade rescued 15 males and 12 females following a gun battle with suspected terrorists in Sabuwa LGA on October 16.
The army said the operation followed a distress call from Gamji community, leading troops to pursue the kidnappers towards Kamba Village, where they abandoned the captives and fled.
It added that the victims were subsequently handed over to the village head of Gamji, Alhaji Falalu Suleiman. No troop casualties were recorded.
In Sokoto, the army said troops neutralised terrorists during encounters at Waria Forest and Sarma Village on October 15, recovering four AK-47 rifles, eight motorcycles, four magazines, 23 rounds of ammunition and a communication device.
