Kebbi State Government has mourned the loss of His Royal Highness, the revered Emir of Zuru, Major General Muhammad Sani Sami II, who passed away at the age of 81.
The monarch succumbed to a brief illness in a London hospital, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and service.
Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, confirmed the emir’s passing in an official statement.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the demise of our beloved emir, a distinguished leader whose contributions to the Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State will forever be cherished,” he said.
The late emir, survived by four wives and seven children, was a respected figure known for his dedication to the cultural and social advancement of the Zuru Emirate.
The Kebbi State Government expressed profound condolences to the emir’s family, the Zuru Emirate Council, and the people of Kebbi State.
“We stand in solidarity with the people of Zuru during this time of grief, praying for strength and solace for all,” the statement added.
Details regarding the burial arrangements will be shared in due course as the emirate prepares to honor the late monarch’s memory.
