Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the launch of its new Load & Outage Analytics platform, a digital innovation designed to enhance visibility, monitoring, and management of the national transmission network.
The unveiling took place at TCN’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on August 25, 2026, where management and staff witnessed a live demonstration of the system.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, represented by Engr. Aminu Tahir, General Manager, Programme Coordination, commended the Operations Department for developing the software in-house. He emphasized that improved load management and supply-demand matching are critical to reducing outages, minimizing losses, and strengthening grid stability.
Delivering the technical presentation, Engr. Godwin Afamefuna Aguiyi, General Manager, Operations, highlighted the challenges of TCN’s current reliability reporting, including fragmented data, slow manual processes, and inconsistent KPI calculations. He explained that the new platform, built on Streamlit with thirteen integrated modules, addresses these inefficiencies by:
– Unified operations: consolidating region, station, transformer, and feeder views for load analysis.
– Automated outage classification: generating reliability KPI reports in minutes instead of days.
– Governance features- role-based access, structured uploads, and full audit trails to ensure accountability.
– Feeder-level insights: pinpointing inefficiencies and losses, such as ₦720.33 million in July 2026 alone.
The platform also integrates the Fault Attribution Ratio (FAR), ensuring clear responsibility between TCN and Distribution Companies under the Service Level Agreement. Future deployment will enable monitoring of the Transmission Losses Factor (TLF), supporting regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
The Executive Director, Human Resources & Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi, reaffirmed management’s commitment to equipping engineers and system operators with the tools needed to sustain national grid stability.
The unveiling marks a major milestone in TCN’s digital transformation journey. By replacing decades of manual reporting with real-time analytics, the platform is expected to save billions in lost revenue, strengthen accountability across the power sector, and position TCN as a data-driven transmission operator in Africa.
