Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) and former Director-General of Lagos Business School (LBS), Professor Albert Alos.
Obi, in a condolence message shared on his X account on Monday, said he received the news of the renowned academic’s death with sadness, noting that Alos died after a brief illness.
The former Anambra State governor recalled meeting the late professor more than two decades ago while attending a Chief Executive Programme at Lagos Business School, describing the encounter as one that left a lasting impact on his life.
“I first met Prof. Alos when I was attending a Chief Executive Programme at Lagos Business School (LBS) over 20 years ago,” Obi wrote.
He described the late academic as “a humble and unassuming gentleman,” who was always willing to listen to the challenges of others and provide practical and thoughtful solutions.
Reflecting on his relationship with the late professor, Obi said one of his greatest memories was learning the value of character and integrity from Alos, who not only taught those virtues but also lived by them.
“Prof. Alos was the first person I met who taught the importance of character and integrity and, more importantly, truly lived by those virtues. He firmly believed that Nigeria could be rescued from the woods through character, integrity, and a commitment to excellence,” he said.
Obi said the late scholar’s passing was a major loss to the academic community, the business world and the nation, adding, “His death is a great loss to the academic community, the business world, and, indeed, Nigeria.”
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late professor, saying, “May God Almighty, who called him home, grant him eternal rest in His kingdom.”
