Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped victim, recovered 18 rustled cattle and arrested four suspected drug peddlers during separate operations in Kebbi State.
Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, confirmed the operations in a statement on Monday.
The statement said the security operation was carried out by troops of Sector 2 in collaboration with local vigilantes and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the military said.
According to the military, the first operation followed a distress call that terrorists had invaded Rambo Village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area to kidnap residents and rustle cattle.
The troops quickly moved to the community, engaged the terrorists in a gun battle and forced them to flee.
During the operation, the troops rescued a 40-year-old resident, Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara, and recovered 18 rustled cattle.
The rescued victim and the recovered cattle were later handed over to the District Head of Rambo Village for further action.
In another operation on the same day, troops and NDLEA personnel raided suspected drug trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities in Maiyama Local Government Area.
The joint operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of substances believed to be illicit drugs.
The military said the suspects and the recovered substances have been handed over to the NDLEA Command in Maiyama for investigation and further action.
The Joint Task Force said it remains committed to sustaining operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North West.
The military also appreciated the support of local communities and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
