The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq
By LEKAN AGBOOLA, Ilorin –
The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Friday inaugurated Barrister Salman Jawondo as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and charged him and other public office holders in the state to keep their oath of office.
In the Governor’s words, “your re-appointment is a further call to duty in serving the people of the state. You should continue to keep to the oath of office. I congratulate you and wish you all the best”, AbdulRazaq said at the brief swearing-in ceremony held at the presidential lodge in Ilorin, the state capital.
Jawondo, on his part, applauded the governor for the re-appointment and his giant strides across sectors, and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
“On behalf of myself and the larger Jawondo clan, I express my profound appreciation to His Excellency for the honour done to me once again,” he said.
“This opportunity is a challenge for me to assist His Excellency by redoubling my efforts in his drive to change the narrative of the state and ensure development. By the grace of God, Your Excellency will succeed.”
The swearing-in was attended by the Chief Judge of the state Justice Suleiman Durosinlohun Kawu, the Grand Kadi Mohammed AbdulKadir; Secretary to the State Government Prof Mamman Saba Jubril; Head of Service Dr. Mrs. Modupe Susan Oluwole; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice Barrister Idris Musa; and Permanent Secretary (Cabinet, Political) Mrs Kikelomo Grillo.
The Governor meanwhile has commended the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for suspending the nationwide protest earlier planned for June 12, calling the step “very patriotic and thoughtful”.
He said the decision of the students was laudable as it has taken the sail off the winds of any fifth columnists who may want to hijack the peaceful protest for their own agenda.
Governor AbdulRazaq made the commendation when he received a delegation of the state chapter of the students’ body who presented an award to the Governor in honour of his commitments to public good and human capital and infrastructural development.
The Governor also said the process of awarding bursary for the students would begin shortly.
The students were led by their incumbent chairman, Saleeman Yusuf Issa and his predecessor Salami Wasiu.
