A delegation from Borno State led by the Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur have visited Marwa Town in Cameroun Republic and have met with the Cameron officials on the possibility of repatriating repentant Nigerian Boko Haram fighters who surrendered and laid down their arms in Cameroon Republic .
The deputy governor, while addressing the surrendered fighters in Marwa where they were camped, said he was in the country to appreciate the government of Cameroon Republic for all the support and assistance they have being given to Nigeria Government in the fight against insurgency.

He added that adequate modalities for the profilling and repatriation of the surrendered fighters back to Nigeria have been put in place.

The deputy governor assured that the Nigerian government is looking at the possibility of rehabilitating and accepting back the repentant fighters back into the society and appealed for those who are yet to surrender to follow suit, stressing that the government and people of Borno State have welcome with open arms the idea and move by the insurgents who opted the path of peace and surrendered.
He commended the government and people of Cameroon Republic for the cordial bilateral relationship between the two countries which has been in existence since time immemorial, adding that if not because of administrative convenience and arrangement the two countries could have been one.

Speaking on behalf of the Cameroonian Government, The Governor of Marwa expressed appreciation for the timely intervention of the Nigerian government through Borno State Government by sending the delegation a week after they held discussion at Abuja on the surrendering of the fighters in Cameroon.
This he said is a clear indication of the determination of the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum to ensure total return of peace in the state and the country at large.
The governor of Marwa promised to continue to support the Nigerian government in its efforts to fight insurgency and other criminalities facing the country.
The delegation from Borno State comprises of the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for local government and Emirate Affairs. Commissioner for Education as well as the security adviser to Borno State Governor, among others.
