The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, has arrived Maidugur on an operational routine visit to the Theater Command Headquarters of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai Maimalari Cantonment.
The CDS was accompanied by the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Umar Farouq Yahaya, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao and Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Awwal Gambo as well as the IGP, Alhaji Usman Alkali.
The team which landed at the Maiduguri NAF base air wing of the Nigerian Air Force were recieved by Maj. Gen. CG Musa, the new theatre commander, Operation Hadin Kai and Brig. Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo, the General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 7 Division.
Their visit was ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit on Thursday to Maiduguri, who would be addressing the military troops and officers of the theater command and also scheduled to commission some capital projects executed by Governor Zulum .
Speaking to newsmen immediately after the closed door meeting, the General Irabor said the military was not unmindful of the security problems in the North-East which informed his visit along with the service chiefs and other security heads in the country to discuss extensively the way forward for the region and country at large
He assured that the military authorities would continue to do their best to ensure that normalcy, socio economic activities return peacefully, while assuring that the Armed Forces would never relent in its efforts to ending insurgency.
“The military is still on top of the matter and deliberations are on how to end Insurgency once and for all”, Irabor said.
