Chelsea have conceded 12 goals in their opening four Premier League games, but the bigger concern is how long their defensive problems have been allowed to run.
The Blues have now gone 21 league games without a clean sheet, according to statistics shared by Fabrizio Romano on Friday.
Chelsea have scored 10 goals this season, meaning their attacking output has not been the main issue so far. Their inability to keep opponents out, however, has left them with a -2 goal difference and the highest number of goals conceded in the Premier League.
The figures put greater focus on Enzo Maresca’s defensive setup, with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez also featured in the graphic highlighting the statistics.
For Chelsea, the concern goes beyond the 12 goals conceded in four games. The 21-game clean-sheet run shows that the problem has carried over from last season and remains unresolved at the start of the new campaign.
