Harry Kane has smashed a Bundesliga record that had stood for 49 years, reaching 100 goals in Germany’s top flight faster than any player before him.
Kane hit the landmark in his 98th Bundesliga appearance for Bayern Munich during Friday’s 7-0 demolition of Union Berlin, beating Dieter Müller’s previous record of 129 games by 31 matches.
The England captain reached 100 in the 39th minute, converting a penalty after Michael Olise was fouled inside the box.
Kane was not finished.
He struck again in the 54th minute to take his Bundesliga tally to 101 goals in 98 games.
Since joining Bayern from Tottenham in 2023, Kane has continued to score at a remarkable rate, reaching the century mark in fewer than 100 league appearances.
His latest milestone also takes his Bayern tally to 151 goals in 154 appearances across all competitions.
But the biggest number from the record is not 100.
It is 31 — the number of games Kane saved compared with Müller’s previous record as he became the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals.
