The crime scene
A shocking incident occurred in Incheon, South Korea, where a 63-year-old father fatally shot his son with a homemade gun during a birthday party.
The party was held to celebrate the father’s birthday and was attended by the son’s wife, two children, and friends.
The father, who remains unnamed, allegedly fired two shots at his son, hitting him in the chest. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the son was pronounced dead.
The police were alerted, and the father was detained without a warrant.
*Investigation and Discovery of Explosives*
During the investigation, authorities discovered 15 homemade explosive devices at the father’s home, which were safely dismantled and removed. One device was connected to an ignition system using a plastic bottle containing flammable liquid and was set to detonate.
The police also found nine other homemade guns in the father’s car and five to six metal pipes at his home.
The motive behind the shooting is still unknown.
However, the police revealed that the father had installed an explosive device in his home and had researched and prepared the explosives before leaving for the party.
The incident has sparked concerns over online access to weapon-building content and growing domestic tensions.
*Evacuation and Search*
Authorities promptly evacuated 105 residents from the building before conducting a search.
The police searched the home in Seoul’s northern district of Dobong after the father told investigators he had installed an explosive device there.
