National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Operations Office, Kaduna held a strategic meeting with the Nigerian Red Cross Society to intensify public sensitization on the outbreak of diphtheria across major areas in the state.
The aim of the meeting is to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and take necessary preventive measures following the recent report on the outbreak of the disease.
The Head of Operations Office, Hajia Halima D. Sulaiman and the Secretary, Nigeria Red Cross, Kaduna Branch,, *Aminu Aliyu* led the meeting held at the agency’s office.
The meeting will also provide an avenue to interact further with parents and community leaders to support vaccination, promote good hygiene and discourage the spread of misinformation.
The meeting centred on public outreach to seek medical attention promptly when symptoms associated with diphtheria are observed and to avoid close contact with suspected cases.
The meeting is to strategize commitment to supporting relevant health authorities in protecting communities and preventing further spread of the disease.
