Terkimbi Adzu
The Chairman of Ushongo Local Government council in Benue State, Hon. Timothy Terkimbi Adzu, has made history with the flag-off of the construction of the first asphalt township road in Lessel town.
Created in 1989, Lessel, the headquarters of Ushongo Local Government, has never witnessed the construction of a single tarred road by any of the previous council officials. The only tarred road that passes through the local government is the Gboko – Vandeikya – Ogoja highway.
Performing the flag-off ceremony of the 3km township road, Hon. Adzu reeled out a long list of rural roads he had constructed with culverts to link communities for easy movement, especially agricultural produce from rural to urban centres and other development projects.
He commended Governor, Hyacinth Alia, for supporting local governments in the state to carry out their developmental projects.
He regretted how funds meant for local councils were either withheld or diverted for other purposes in the past.
He also applauded traditional rulers for their support and cooperation in ensuring peaceful coexistence in their domains and neighbouring communities.
Managing Director of Tratacom Limited Chief Joseph Tarfa Ihuman, assured the construction company will deliver very high quality job in keeping to the terms of the contract and on time.
He appealed for cooperation from youths and traditional rulers in protecting and guarding the workers and equipments in the course of the job.
He commended Governor Hyacinth Alia, the Chairman and legislators of the council for the award of the contract to his company through a competitive bidding process.
The event was witnessed by traditional and other prominent personalities from different wards of the local government.
