The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) has said over 5,000 participants are expected to attend the 3rd edition of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu annual public lecture series in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital this weekend.
Addressing Journalists at the (BCS) Headquarters, the spokesman of BSC, Edet Archibon, said the event has no religious inclination as dignitaries from all works of life are expected to participate.
According to the spokesman, two African former president are billed to deliver public lecture at the event with the theme: ‘Unity In Diversity’ As Key To Peace And Sustainable Development”
The two former African leaders include – Joseph Kabila, the immediate past President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 2001-2019.
Kabila as President made giants stride to unify the country. In 2006, a new constitution was promulgated and the country held its first multiparty elections in more than four decades.
He was re-elected in 2008 and signed a peace agreement with more than 20 rebels group who had been fighting in the eastern part of the country.
Another African former President Joaquin Chssano of the Republic of Mozambique from 1986- to 2005. He is credited for transforming the war country of Mozambique into a successful African democracies.
After his presidency, Chssano become an elder stateman, envoy and diplomat for both his country and United Nations. He also served as Chairman of the African Union from 2003-2004.
Another important personality expected at the public lecture on Saturday include His Grace, Srimat Smarananda hi Maharaji although, simple known as the President, he is in fact the President General of the Whole Ramakrishna math and Ramakrishna mission, and is respectfully referred to as President of Maharaji by the monks and devotees. He functions chiefly as the spiritual head of the Order.
