Blackout: Taraba commissioner blames FG for neglect

Taraba State Commissioner of Energy and Economic Development, Engr. Naomi Tanko Agbu has blamed the Federal Government of Nigeria for neglecting its responsibility to ensure people have access to steady power supply.
Engr Naomi stated this on Thursday during a press briefing at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Jalingo Taraba State.
She stressed that the issue of electricity supply rest on the shoulders of the Federal Government and the Ministry of Energy and Economic Development is working tirelessly with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to ensure the matter is urgently address.
The Commissioner reiterated that due to some technical constraints in the 132kv network and equipment limitation from the TCN, the danger and damages may occur if power is to be supplied.
She added that the primary responsibility of the government is the protection of lives and properties, adding that the ministry would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the quick restoration of electricity supply to affected areas.
She urged the residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities by individual or group of individuals that may lead to vandalization of electricity supply in the North East Region.
Meanwhile, the recent total blackout has crippled the economy activities of Taraba State and has also make life unbearable for the people of the state.
