Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has expressed indifference to the defection of some party leaders to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying it won’t miss them.
The PDP Vice Chairman (Lagos Central), Mr. Hakeem Olalemi, stated that the defectors were not active members of the party.
“All the people that left had been inactive in the party in the past two years; we are not going to miss them at all,” Olalemi said in a na interview with newsmen in Lagos.
He added that the defectors had long shown their allegiance to APC.
“These people showed long ago they were not PDP members again, they are Jandor’s people and we have always known that they are APC,” he said.
Some notable PDP leaders who defected to APC include: Alhaji Hakeem Amode, State Publicity Secretary of PDP; Alhaja Safurat Abdulkareem, two-time PDP deputy governorship candidate; Chief Ola Apena, former Lagos PDP deputy chairman; Prince Rufus Adeniyi, former PDP Assistant State Organising Secretary (Lagos West); Jerry Afemikhe (Olori Odo), former PDP House of Representatives candidate
Several 2023 PDP Lagos State House of Assembly candidates also defected, including Messrs Keshinro Abiodun, Akeem Jinadu, and Ibrahim Balogun, among others.
Olalemi emphasized that the party has moved on without the defectors.
“We are moving on without them. We have long forgotten them.
“They had not been part of us for over two years,” he said.
