Pastor Tunde Bakare
Presiding Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), Pastor Tunde Bakare, has called on Nigerian leaders to honor the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari by promoting good governance.
Speaking at a news conference to pay tribute to Buhari and the late Awujale of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Adetona, Bakare emphasized the need to build on their patriotic legacies.
“The best Nigeria could do for the late former president is to advance his dream of a functional Nigeria”, he said.
Bakare, a former presidential running mate to Buhari, praised the late president’s commitment to national development and his quest for good governance.
He highlighted Buhari’s policy interventions, including the “Not Too Young to Run” initiative, which opened up the political space for young Nigerians.
Bakare urged Nigerian leaders to prioritize good governance, judicious deployment of resources, and the advancement of the rule of law.
He expressed concern about the nation’s drift towards a one-party state, which he said negates the progressive principles Buhari stood for.
Tribute to Awujale
Bakare also paid tribute to the late Awujale, describing him as a father figure who played a significant role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He prayed for the comfort of the Awujale’s family and the people of Ogun State.
“May God strengthen and comfort Olori Adetona, their children, grandchildren, Ogun government and people, and may the noble soul of Kabiyesi rest in perfect peace”, he said.
