Bauchi State Police Command has arrested eleven suspects in connection with the alleged murder of a 29-year-old man in Bauchi metropolis.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Ahmad Wakil, who confirmed the development on Monday, said the suspects were taken into custody following the incident that occurred on October 25 in the Sabuwan Kasuwa area of the state capital.
According to Wakil, two of the assailants had stormed the victim’s residence and attacked him before police operatives arrived at the scene in response to a distress call.
> “The victim was immediately evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a medical doctor certified him dead,” Wakil said.
He added that the deceased’s remains had since been released to his family for burial.
Wakil explained that news of the killing sparked a reprisal attack by angry youths who set ablaze a house belonging to one of the suspects’ family members. Security personnel were later deployed to restore order and prevent further violence.
The police spokesman further disclosed that the command had intensified efforts to arrest other suspects still at large.
> “Those already in custody will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” he added.
