Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, has expressed renewed confidence that the days of banditry in the state are numbered, unveiling fresh steps to intensify the fight against bandits and other criminal gangs troubling communities across the state.
The governor made the declaration in Sokoto while declaring open the 17th regular meeting of the State Executive Council, which also marked the final council session for the year. According to him, the government is strengthening intelligence gathering and tightening coordination with security agencies as part of a broader strategy to dismantle bandit networks.
Governor Aliyu explained that the new measures are an expansion of existing security efforts that are already yielding encouraging results. He stressed that intelligence-driven operations remain central to the state’s approach, noting that accurate and timely information has proven effective in disrupting criminal activities.
“As a government, we are ready to do all it takes to ensure that banditry becomes history in Sokoto State, but we cannot do it alone,” the governor said.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to work closely with security agencies by providing credible information that could help prevent attacks and apprehend criminals.
According to him, the cooperation of communities is indispensable to restoring lasting peace.
Governor Aliyu expressed optimism that with sustained public support and improved intelligence sharing, Sokoto State will overcome the security challenges and reclaim peace for its people.
