Former VP Atiku Abubakar and the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki have congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a symbol of wisdom, unity and peaceful leadership whose influence has continued to strengthen Nigeria.
The two prominent political leaders conveyed their separate goodwill messages on Monday through posts on their X accounts, where they praised the revered monarch for his decades of service to Islam, national cohesion and humanity.
Atiku, on behalf of his family, extended warm felicitations to the Sultan and prayed for divine guidance and continued strength as he carries out his responsibilities.
He wrote: “On behalf of my family, I warmly felicitate with His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
“I pray that the Almighty Allah continues to bless His Eminence with robust health, enduring strength and greater wisdom as he provides exemplary leadership and guidance to the Muslim faithful and our nation at large.
“May Allah grant him many more years of distinguished service to humanity. Amin.”
Saraki also celebrated the monarch’s milestone, saying the Sultan’s voice has remained a source of stability for the country during some of its most challenging periods.
According to him, “As His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, turns 70 today, my family and I send our warmest wishes to a man whose voice has helped steady our country through some of its most difficult seasons.
“For almost twenty years on the throne, and before that through a distinguished career in the military, His Eminence has carried the same message wherever he has gone: peace must be protected at all costs, and no Nigerian should ever be made to feel like a stranger in his own country.
“As he celebrates this milestone, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) will continue to grant His Eminence good health and many more years of the wisdom our country continues to value so deeply.”
The Sultan of Sokoto, who serves as the spiritual leader of Nigerian Muslims, has long been recognised for promoting interfaith dialogue, national unity and peaceful coexistence, making him one of the country’s most respected traditional and religious leaders.
