Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that it has commenced the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Monday, the electoral body said its attention had been drawn to an online message directing prospective applicants to a website identified as gvly.xyz/INEC-Ad-hoc-St…, where it falsely claimed that recruitment for election duties had begun.
According to the Commission, the message did not originate from INEC and should be ignored by members of the public.
“Thus information is not from INEC.”
The Commission further clarified that the website being circulated is not one of its official recruitment platforms.
“The website/link being circulated is NOT an official INEC recruitment portal. Members of the public are strongly advised NOT to click on the link, submit personal information, upload documents or make any payment through the platform.”

INEC urged Nigerians seeking information about recruitment or election-related activities to rely only on its verified communication channels and official website for authentic updates.
“INEC’s official recruitment and election-related announcements are published through the Commission’s verified communication channels and official websites.”
The Commission also reminded the public that it had repeatedly cautioned Nigerians about fraudsters using fake recruitment advertisements and cloned websites to deceive unsuspecting job seekers.
“The Commission has previously warned the public about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements purporting to originate from INEC.”
It advised citizens to disregard the latest recruitment notice and avoid sharing it with others.
“Please disregard and do not circulate this false recruitment notice.”
Reiterating the need for vigilance, the electoral body encouraged Nigerians to verify information before acting on it.
“Stay informed. Stay safe. Always verify before you click.”
INEC added that all official announcements relating to recruitment and electoral activities would continue to be made through its verified communication platforms and official website.
