NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi
Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of blaming opposition parties instead of taking responsibility for its performance in government.
Obi’s remarks were contained in a post shared on X on Monday by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, following the inauguration of the party’s National Campaign Council (NCC).
According to the post, Obi said the APC was elected to improve the lives of Nigerians and should be held accountable for its record in office.
“The NDC will not blame anyone for failing to deliver on its promises. The APC was not hired to blame people, especially opposition political parties, for its colossal failure in government. This is the message of incoming President Peter Obi at the inauguration of the NCC today,” he said.
Also quoted in the post was the Chairman of the NDC National Campaign Council, Babachir Lawal, who said the coalition was fully prepared for the 2027 general election.
Lawal expressed confidence that the election would be decided at polling units across the country.
“The 2027 presidential and general elections will be won and lost at the polling units. We are prepared. Election day will be a very long day. There will be no retreat, no surrender!” Lawal declared.
The inauguration of the National Campaign Council marks another step in the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 general election, as the coalition seeks to challenge the APC for power.
The APC has consistently defended its performance in office, arguing that many of the country’s economic and security challenges were inherited and require sustained reforms to address.
Political activities have continued to gather pace ahead of the 2027 elections, with major parties stepping up campaigns and mobilising supporters across the country.
