Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has visited the newly established 10 Division Garrison Headquarters of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and protect communities across the state.
The visit was aimed at deepening collaboration between the state government and security agencies as authorities intensify efforts to tackle emerging security threats in Taraba.
During the engagement at the army headquarters, Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making security a priority and creating a peaceful environment where residents can live, work and pursue economic opportunities.
The governor stressed the importance of stronger cooperation among security agencies in safeguarding lives, protecting communities and maintaining peace across the state.
He said effective partnership with security formations remained critical to addressing security challenges and consolidating gains recorded in the fight against criminal activities.
The visit came days after suspected bandits attacked Binnari community in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing no fewer than 52 people and leaving residents in mourning.
The governor’s engagement with the military leadership is part of broader efforts to improve security coordination and respond to threats in affected communities and other identified flashpoints across the state.

The establishment of the 10 Division Garrison Headquarters in Jalingo is expected to boost military presence and operational capacity in the state as authorities work to address insecurity.
The Taraba State Government has also reiterated its commitment to supporting security institutions in their efforts to maintain peace and stability across the state.
