The Federal Government has said it would implement the country’s Covid-19 Action Recovering and Economic Stimulus, in Nasarawa State.
The General Manager, Community and Social Development Agency, Saidu Ahmed Esha, disclosed this during the continuation of the one week advocacy and sentization programme to all the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, the Nigeria Covid 19 Action Recovering and Economic Stimulus (NGCARES), is a Federal Government programme in conjunction with the world bank, would be implemented in all the thirty six states of the Federation and the Federal Capital territory, Abuja, between June and July this year.
Mr. Esha, who led the team on a sensitization team to Toto, Nasarawa, keffi and Karu LGA, informed the management of the LGAs on the important of the programme, saying that it was initiated to address the plights of the less privileges who faced challenges of living during Covid-19 pandemic
According to him, the programme would have direct impact on the lives of the people and would be executed in rural communities across the state.
He also highlighed four agencies that would help in ensuring the actualization of the programme, to include: Community and Social Development Agency, Nasarawa State Operations and Coordinating Unit, Conditional Cash Transfer Unit, and Fadama.
On their parts, the various heads of the sensitization team, informed the people that the programme is strickly to benefit the poor in the rural communities where stipends woukd be giving to them at every month to cushion the effect of Covid-19.
Responding on behalf of the Chairmen of the LGAs, the Director of Personnel Management, and the Secretaries of the Councils, thanked them for the sensitization visit and assured them for their support since the programme is for the poor as stated by the team leader.
The sensitization team also visited the palaces of the Emir of Nasarawa, Emir of Keffi and the Esu karu, where the Operation Manager of Community and Social Development Agency, Hajiya Maimuna Usman, solicited the support of the traditional rulers towards mobilizing their subjects to embrace the programme, saying that the programme intended to improve the households consumption and that women would benefit most due to their prudent management of home affairs.
Responding, the Esu of Karu, Pharmacist Luka Panya Baba, and the Madakin Nasarawa, Ahmed Rufai, expressed hope that the programme if implemented would benefit the poor in their various communities.
The traditional leaders advised them to be fair and just in the implementation of the programme for the benefit of all citizenry.
