Former Vice Chairman of Marte Local Government Council, Alhaji Abatcha Bukar has been formaly sworn in as the executive chairman of the Local government to fill the vacant position of the late chairman Hon.Jibrin Abubakar Jibrin who died recently after a protracted illness.
Governor Babagana Zulum was represented by his deputy H.E Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur presided over the swearing in ceremony while the representative of the state Chief Judge, Justice Aisha Kumaliya administered the oath of allegiance.
The state governor in his address urged the newly sworn in chairman to make wide consultations and involve all stakeholders in the management of the local government affairs.
The governor said it is expected that the chairman will work in unity with other tiers of government in order to bring the dividend of democracy to the people in all relevant areas.
He urged the new chairman to key into the 25 year development framework and ten year strategic transformation plan of this administration.
The governor also enjoined him to to use the available resources wisely, stressing that government will not hesitate to deal with any chairman who is found wanting.
He therefore congratulated the new chairman and expressed hope that he will justify the confidence reposed in him.
Earlier in a key note address, The Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Alhaji Sugun Mai Mele said in line with the provisions of section 8 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria read together with section 4 of the local law 2000 as amended, the state government has directed that Vice Chairman, Abatcha Bukar be sworn in to replace the vacuum left in the council as a result of the sudden death of the former chairman.
The newly sworn in chairman Alhaji Abatcha Bukar thank the state governor for all his effort in the development of Local government and promised to live up to expectation to justify the confidence reposed in him .
