Taraba State Government has commenced the second phase of its leadership development programme, with another batch of senior government officials beginning a one-week Leadership and Peace Management Course at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.
The initiative, sponsored by Governor Agbu Kefas, is aimed at strengthening leadership capacity, promoting effective governance, and enhancing peacebuilding across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Zainab Jalingo, the latest participants are following an earlier group that completed a similar training at the military institution in the past two weeks.
She explained that the programme is designed to expose participants to practical knowledge on governance, peaceful coexistence, conflict resolution, and societal values that can improve public service delivery.
The current batch comprises commissioners, judges of the Federal and State High Courts, religious leaders, senior government officials, security personnel, political party leaders, and representatives of youth and women’s organisations.
The commissioner said the broad representation reflects the state government’s commitment to involving all critical stakeholders in its drive to build lasting peace and sustainable development.
She noted that the training is part of Governor Kefas’ wider human capital development agenda, which prioritises stronger institutions, responsible leadership, improved security, and effective governance.
According to the statement, the commencement of the second batch underscores the administration’s determination to continuously invest in people and institutions while fostering collaboration among government agencies, traditional and religious leaders, security organisations, and the wider public in advancing peace and development across Taraba State.
