Hadi-Sirika, former Aviation Minister
By MBAFAN ADE, Abuja –
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, announced Wednesday night that two major airports in Lagos and Abuja, would resume domestic flights operation on July 7.
The development comes as the Muhammadu Buhari Administration makes efforts to rescue the nation’s social and economic sectors from the claws of the months-long lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Only two days ago, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, conveyed President Buhari’s approval of partial re-opening of schools to pave the way for final year students to take their examinations and graduate.
Sirika said in a tweet that four other airports located in Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri and Maiduguri would resume domestic flights operations on July 11.
The Minister did not say when international flights operations would resume in Nigeria but said that all other airports across the country would resume domestic operations on July 15.
He only assure that the date for international flights to resume taking off and landing would be announced in due course.
