A cross section of graduating police constables at The Maiduguri Police Training College

The Nigeria Police College Maiduguri on Wednesday passed out 1,087 General Duty Recruit Constables as part of Federal Government’s recruitment efforts to boost security in the state.
Speaking during the Passing Out Parade (POP) which was held at The Maiduguri Police Training College, The Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Usman Akali Baba, said the police recruits received the training in 15 other training institutions across the country.
The IGP who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, (DIG), Alhaji Zannah Ibrahim said, ” the ceremony involves a total of 9,989 recruits out of the 10,000 that commenced the training as a total of 11 recruit trainees could not meet up with the components of the standards set for exercise during the trainings “.

He said the passing out parade marks the joyful climax of the physically and intellectually challenging training activities..
“Indeed, I am elated to note that shortly after the POP being witnessed today, another set of 10,000 recruits will be resuming training under the 2021 batch of the exercise”, he said.
DIG Ibrahim, further, noted that the recruitment exercise is in line with the Federal Government’s determination to create employment for the teeming youths and further address the social factors that accentuated the commission of crimes across the country.
On his part, The Chairman, Borno State Career Guidance and Counselling Board, Abba Lawan said ,”the board has been doing its best to see that Borno fill all its quota in the police, military, other sister security agencies and Civil servants in general.”
He urged the graduating Borno recruits to be good ambassadors of the state .
In his votes of thanks, The Acting commandant, Maiduguri Police College, DCP Onuiha Bethrand, said since the commencement of the exercise in January, 2022, the college has not witnessed any casualty .
He thanked the president Muhammadu Buhari, IGP Usman Akali, Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi for their strategic mentorships in policing the state.
