Nigerian makeup artist Theresa Emegwara has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous makeup application by an individual.
Her media representative, Robert Ekat, announced in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos that Emegwara, widely known as TesGlam, achieved the record on August 19 at 7:15 a.m., surpassing the previous record with a time of 103 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds.
The statement noted that Emegwara, who is targeting a new benchmark of 144 hours under her initiative Glam 4-144, plans to continue her marathon effort despite already breaking the record.
The 28-year-old expressed heartfelt thanks to her family and friends for their unwavering support, stating, “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone’s encouragement.
This journey has pushed me to my limits—I’ve cried and nearly quit, but we’re not stopping until we hit 144 hours.”
Previous record was held by Ghana’s Akosua Mantey Roselyn, set on April 3, 2024.
Emegwara’s Glam-4-144 challenge, officially approved by Guinness World Records, began on August 14 and is expected to span approximately six days.
Her accomplishment joins the ranks of recent record-breaking feats by Nigerians, such as Tunde Onakoya’s chess marathon and Hilda Baci’s cooking marathon.
