Nigerian Army troops
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have thwarted a coordinated attack by ISWAP/JAS terrorists on the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Miyanti, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, restoring full control of the facility after an intense early-morning gunfight.
A senior security source at Army Headquarters confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the assault occurred at dawn on Nov. 18. According to him, soldiers at the base held off the attackers until reinforcements from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade arrived, overwhelming the terrorists with “superior firepower” and compelling them to retreat.
Troops immediately re-secured the base after pushing the insurgents back.
The source added that troops from the 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade also responded to a distress call from farmers in Warabe and Sava-Dure communities of Gwoza Local Government Area, where terrorists had launched attacks on rural farmlands.
Across other formations in the North-East, he noted that operations under Operation Desert Sanity IV continued with no major setbacks reported.
In the North-West, troops under Operation FANSAN Yamma recorded a separate breakthrough, uncovering a newly established illegal mining site at Fatika Junction along the Dogon Dawa–Old Kuyello axis in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Soldiers also engaged three terrorists who attempted to escape through Gobarawa and Nachibi, recovering two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, in Plateau State, troops deployed under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) responded swiftly to an isolated killing in Riyom Local Government Area. The same team also rescued a commercial driver who had been abducted by armed robbers along the Bokkos–Barkin Ladi road.
Security operations, the source noted, are continuing across all theatres as troops intensify efforts to suppress terrorist activity and protect vulnerable communities.
