National Democratic Coalition (NDC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to intimidate opposition members ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying it will resist any attempt to manipulate the electoral process.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, made the position known in a post shared on X on Sunday.
According to him, the National Chairman of the NDC, Senator Cleopas Moses, said the party would not allow what he described as APC’s desperation to undermine democracy.
“The National Chairman of the NDC, Senator Cleopas Moses, has vowed that the NDC will not lie down and be rolled over by the diabolical ruling APC,” Osa Director quoted him as saying.
He also alleged that the ruling party had orchestrated attacks against NDC members, pointing to what he described as the latest incident in Enugu on Saturday.
He quoted the party chairman as saying: “The desperation of the APC, which has led to its orchestration of violence against NDC members — the latest of which occurred in Enugu yesterday — will henceforth be resisted by every legitimate means.”
The NDC warned against any attempt to influence the outcome of the 2027 elections, insisting that the wishes of Nigerians must be respected.
The spokesman quoted the party as saying: “Allow votes to count, or they will be counted.”
As part of preparations for the elections, the NDC said it would inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council on October 20 and had already begun recruiting party agents across the country.
According to the party, the move is aimed at protecting votes during the elections, drawing lessons from Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign.
The statement added that the party would engage “committed, dedicated, and trustworthy party agents” to defend its votes nationwide.
The NDC also said its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, remained united with the party leadership and represented what it described as the best option for Nigerians.
The party concluded its message with the slogan: “A New Nigeria is POssible. We can do it!”
