Shooting Stars assistant coach Ali Kandil has blamed missed first-half chances for his side’s failure to secure victory after surrendering a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw against Ikorodu City in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Kandil’s disappointment following the Matchday 10 encounter, in which Shooting Stars appeared on course for an away victory before the hosts fought back.
Taofeek Otaniyi and Desmond Ojietefian scored for the Oluyole Warriors, but Donald Obiajulu struck twice for Ikorodu City to rescue a point.
Kandil believed his side should have put the contest beyond the hosts before the break.
He said Shooting Stars could have been three or four goals ahead in the first half but failed to convert their opportunities.
The coach also pointed to injuries that forced adjustments during the match, although he accepted that his side had to settle for an away point.
The result will leave Shooting Stars reflecting on how quickly a commanding position can disappear when chances are wasted. Having established a two-goal advantage, they failed to turn their early dominance into the three points they had targeted.
