The General Manager of Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEOA), Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, has commended the Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development for its exceptional humanitarian work in supporting survivors of the Boko Haram insurgency.
Abubakar praised the foundation for being the only vibrant local NGO bringing succor to thousands of survivors, including women, girls, orphans, and widows.
During a courtesy visit by the Allamin Foundation team, led by Executive Director Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, Abubakar assured collaboration between BOSEOA and the foundation to support survivors in recovering from trauma and rebuilding their livelihoods.
He added that the partnership would provide sustainable support to Boko Haram survivors, promoting peacebuilding, and rehabilitation in the region.
He acknowledged the foundation’s efforts in deradicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration of survivors, particularly women and girls.
Abubakar announced the immediate engagement of five survivors trained by the foundation as BOSEOA Vanguards or Street Cleaners. He promised to liaison with the Wife of the Borno State Governor, Hajiya Falmata Zulum, to secure her support and assistance for the survivors.
The Executive Director of Allamin Foundation highlighted the organization’s humanitarian and human rights activities, particularly in peacebuilding, transitional justice, and advocacy for survivors and victims of conflicts.
She noted that the foundation has catered to over 1,040 children and profiled over 4,000 survivors and victims for deradicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs.
The victims, who accompanied the Allamin Foundation team, appealed for forgiveness, understanding, and reintegration, seeking opportunities to engage in street sanitation or other activities to earn a living and support their families.
