Center for humanitarian dialogue solicits government support, partnership in Borno

From SADIQ ABUBAKAR, Maiduguri –

The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue has solicited for the support of the Borno state government and partnership in implementation of their activities aimed at peace building and reconciliation in the state.

Country Manager of the Centre, Mrs. Millicent Lewis-ogunmuas, who made the call in Maiduguri on Wednesday, said the programme was part of the post-insurgency measures to strength peace, unity and tolerance among the citizens of the state. 

She spoke when a delegation of the Centre paid a courtesy visit  to the Deputy Governor of Borno state, Hon. Umar Usman kadafur in his office at the Government House Maiduguri. 

Lewis-ogunmu, who led the delegation, explained that the courtesy visit was to brief the state government about the activities of the organization and role they play in dialogue, mediation and peace building in Nigeria.

She added that the centre for Humanitarian Dialogue was an independent diplomacy and mediation organization  with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

 According to her, it was founded on the principle of humanity, impartiality and independence with a mission to prevent mitigate and resolve conflict through diplomacy, dialogue and mediation.

Responding,  the Deputy Governor urged the group to strongly align and key into Borno state’s 25-year development framer work and the 10- year strategic transformation plan of Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, particularly on peace and security.
