The Yerwa Tricycle Association on Wednesday received a financial intervention from the Borno State Government through the Borno State Social Investment Management Programme (BOSIMP), with 3,010 members identified as beneficiaries.
According to BOSIMP, each beneficiary is to receive ₦50,000, with the funds credited to beneficiaries’ accounts.
During a visit to the BOSIMP, the Chairman of the Yerwa Tricycle Association, Muhammad Mustapha, commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for the intervention. He said the support would provide relief to members of the association, who play an important role in Maiduguri’s tricycle transportation network.
Mustapha also pledged the association’s continued cooperation with the state government and expressed appreciation for the support.
The General Manager of BOSIMP, Dr Amdan Lawan, commended the beneficiaries for their patience and good conduct during the payment process. He also acknowledged the role of Hon. El-Lawan Mustapha, Grand Patron of the association, in coordinating its members.
Dr Amdan assured beneficiaries that cases involving failed transactions would be reviewed and addressed to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their funds.
Hon. El-Lawan Mustapha similarly expressed appreciation to the Borno State Government and BOSIMP, noting the importance of tricycle operators to Maiduguri’s transportation system.
The meeting also agreed on joint sensitisation campaigns focusing on drug abuse prevention, road safety, responsible riding and public awareness, with media engagement identified as part of the awareness strategy.
Also present were the Director of Planning, Hajiya Fatima Mani; Chief Accountant, Shetima Muhammad; and Ward Councillor, Muhammad Alhaji Bukar Bature.
