Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has distributed dignity kits, science equipment and school furniture to public schools across the state.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, commended the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for donating 16,400 dignity kits and charged school principals to ensure that the items reach all adolescent school girls in their respective schools.
Similarly, the science equipment for 88 laboratories in 22 secondary schools were distributed to the benefitting school principals
The rehabilitation and equipping works were supported by the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (RRR) through the Multi Sectoral Crisis Recovery Projects (MCRP).
Speaking at the occasion, the State Coordinator, Baba Zannah Abdulkarim and the representative of UNICEF Mrs. Tina Charles called on the judicious usage of items donating.
In her good will message, the Honorable Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo represented by the Director, Women Affairs, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Falmata Umar Lawan, expressed her appreciation to the donors and pledged support to women and girls education in the state
Highlight of the occasion was the distribution of the dignity kits, science equipment and school furniture to the public school principals as well as group photographs among others.
