A 50-seater capacity electronic library has been established for the Faculty of Management Sciences, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
The Vice Chancellor of of ATBU, Professor Muhammadu Abdulazeez, in his speech at the official commissioning of the e-library on Tuesday at the Gubi Permanent site of the institution, said the NAICOM identified and selected the School alongside others for facilitating the establishment of an insurance degree Programme.
He said: “The commission has so far provided funding for overseas PhD training of two members of staff of the faculty”.
“The commission has also graciously funded the establishment of a student’s learning enhancement center equipped with state of the art Information Communication technology facilities and book resources of premium quality.”
The Abdulazeez who was represented by the deputy Dean school of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Abubakar Dutshe, said the intervention has significantly assisted the university in meeting part of the ressources requirements of National University Commission for approval of the commencement of the programme.
According to him, the arrangements have reached advance stage with NUC for resource verification and subsequent approval for commencement of the programme.
He however appreciated the Commission for impacting much on the university and subsequent training of teeming students.
The NAICOM National Commissioner, Olurundare Thomas, said the support to the university was to achieve its mandate
Thomas who was represented by the Director Administration and Human resources of the commission, Habila Emos, said: “To promote insurance Education and human capital development among others, this is being carried out through Financial assistance to tertiary institutions.”
He Commended the ATBU for the honor by naming the e-library after NAICOM.
