Members of the seven man technical committee
PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
Chairman of Cross River State Privatization Council, John Odo has set up a seven man technical committee for the privatization of fourty six industries build by Governor Ben Ayade led administration across the eighteen Local Government Areas of the state.
Inuagurating the committee, in his office on Tuesday, Mr. Odo said this followed the successful completion of referendum exercise involving the physical and virtual distribution of questionnaires to the 18 Local Government Council.
Members of the committee include, Joseph Ogar as Chairman, Johnson Ebokpo, John Odey, Kenneth Asim Ita as Secretary among others.
The Committee terms of reference include collation and interpretation of result, review and adaptation of result of the referendum among others.
It could be recalled that the council had offered the state opportunity to own and buy shares from the industries created by the Ben Ayade through what it called a referendum exercise that include outright privatization, one hundred percent state own industries, and partial commercialization.
In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Commerce, Rosemary Archibong commended the council for its transparency in involving the people of the state through its activities.
Archibong said the state also welcome foreign investors to participate in the ongoing process of taking ownership of these industries that will benefit the state and its people.
The Secretary of the Privatization Council, David Amiye and the Technical Adviser to governor on privatization, Francis Ntamunu, said the exercise was intended to sample the opinion of the people to participate in decision making process as what should be done with the 46 industries in their various LGAs.
