The Higher Ground Polytechnic, Jigwada Keffi, Nasarawa State, says the institution would take-off before the end of 2021, according to Mr Ibrahim Babayo, Chief security consultant to the polytechnic.
Babayo, who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with newsmen, on Thursday, in his office in Keffi, said that some of the major objectives of establishing the institution were to provide employment opportunities, ensure development of Nasarawa State, as well as contribute to tackling current security challenges.
The owners of the institution have, so far, pledged to engage with capable Nigerians as well as foreigners, in her educational activities, with a view to achieving the best academic standards in the country, he said.
According to him, the polytechnic belonged to some well-meaning Nigerians, who want to ensure that they worked harmoniously with other well-meaning Nigerians to collectively ensure that our country, particularly Nasarawa state, move ahead in all ramification.
In addition, he revealed that Friends of the Police, would collaborate with the Polytechnic to promote Community Policing activities as approved by the Federal government of Nigeria.
“If you read the Nigeria Police Act 2020 as amended, it has allowed for the establishment of private detective colleges, and we have invited Dr. Aderinto John Adegoke to seat with us, to find a way forward, including ensuring that a special consideration is given to the private detective training programme”, he said.
Babayo added that to start the private detective academic programmes, arrangement had reached advanced stages for collaboration with five universities in Nigeria and overseas.
On his part, the Registrar of the polytechnic, Dr. Aderinto John Adegoke said “Higher Ground polytechnic has been legally registered with the Cooperate Affairs Commission as well as with the National Board for Technical Education” adding that the polytechnic was in her final stage, for inspection by the appropriate authority.
The Registrar further said ,” Before the end of this year 2021 by the grace of God Almighty, we are going to take off”.
Higher Ground polytechnic is science-based and we are going to commence with computer engineering studies, statistics and electrical engineering, Adegoke said, adding that the institution was also committed to employing only qualified hands to drive its academic programmes. (NAN)
